Best Tips To Follow For Kitchen Fire Safety

There are some of the best tips to follow for kitchen fire safety
Hygiene
Grease is one of the main cooking elements, besides being one of the sub products of cooked food. Clean your kitchen thoroughly with materials specifically designed for it. That way, any uncontrollable fire won’t find a new source of fuel for spreading itself.
Hygiene should be an integral part of any kitchen fire suppression system
Flammables
A kitchen range is nothing but a controlled fire. You only need a small variable within that system to unbalance it and spread the fire through out the room. That’s why you should store any kind of flammable materials away from the cooking area. That includes oil, greases and even the trash can.

Additionally, you should check if the interiors of your kitchen are fire proof, even the floor. Fire proof kitchen tile is an option that should be considered by every responsible home owner.

Kitchens need to be cleaned, and sometimes, they are left slightly wet. Or maybe some water fell to the floor. Either way, someone could slip and fall over the kitchen range, starting a fire. That’s why a non slip mat is very important. That way, you can avoid any slipping accident near the range.
Extinguisher
You can’t use any kind of extinguisher inside a kitchen. Right now you will find two kinds of kitchen fire extinguishers in the market. One is the Class B extinguisher, which was originally created for extinguishing any kind of fuel like gasoline, grease or paint. Although they can be used, it would be a better idea to use Class K extinguishers. They were specially designed for kitchen fires since they feed from oil and other greases.
Training
Call your local fire department and ask them about any training programs for families. They may give you the basics on how to react to a fire or how to use a fire extinguisher without hurting yourself. Suppressing kitchen fires isn’t an easy task since most of them are created by oil. It is better to have some practice with this kind of flammable material.
What Should You Do If A Kitchen Fire Starts?
In case kitchen stove fires spread outside the range, then you should go for your fire extinguisher and try to turn down the fire. In case you aren’t able to stop it, then you should finish evacuating your family members and call the firemen. A word of advice: do not try to stop it with water (it may be an electric fire and you could electrocute yourself). It is best to leave it to professionals to do it.

As you can see, kitchen grease fires are very serious. Without the adequate instruments or training, you will not be able to suppress them. A correctly installed kitchen fire suppression system will do the job, so think about it.
