Educate Your Children About Fire Safety Plan
The best way to do it it’s taking them to a course to your local
fire brigade. They will like it a lot. After all, there isn’t
a kid who hasn’t dreamt
about becoming a fireman. The firemen
will teach your kids the importance of having a fire safety plan for
their house.
Flammables
Do you store any kind of flammable material? If so, what for? If you
don’t use it frequently, there is no reason why you need to
store it. According to the triangle of fire, you require three things
to start a fire: oxygen (which is found free in the atmosphere), a
flammable material (like fuel or oil) and a source of heat (like a
cigarette or a electrical spark). If you don’t have other choice
and you need to store, let’s say, a can of fuel, then do it
with some safety measures. Assure yourself that it doesn’t have
any leaks and put in a place where there isn’t any kind of heat
source (like wires).
Use Electricity Safely
Avoid using a lot of connections for one socket. Install more sockets
if you need them, but don’t have a bunch of cables mixed up,
hidden behind a TV.

Escape Route
Look at your house and think about what would happen if a fire starts
in a determined room. Do you have an escape route in case the living
room is burning? What about the kitchen? Maybe the only access to
your escape will be blocked if a fire starts near the door. If that’s
so, look for other means of escape, like a window, installing a new
door or placing fire safety ladders. Remember, most of the deaths
caused by fire are not consequence of fire burnings, but of asphyxiation.
So, if a fire starts, do not expect to have too much time to escape.
Before you know it, you could end up on the floor, coughing to death.
Fire Heaters
Most fire deaths occur during winter. That is because of the extra
need for a heat source. Assure yourself that your fire heaters are
properly installed and are not surrounded by flammable material like
old clothes or dirty rags. If you aren’t sure about the installation,
call a specialized company and ask for a maintenance service. If there
is any problem, they will detect it.
Remember, in 2003, firemen attended 402,000 home fires in the USA.
Those fires killed more than three thousand people and injured more
than 14,000 persons. And from these deaths, the principal victims
were children of four and under. That’s the strongest reason
to consider a plan of fire safety for kids at your household. Fire
safety products won’t cost you a fortune and will teach your
kids what to do. Home fire safety is duty for all of us.
